It is important to note that this meme of "hundreds of men were not returned" is an Article of Faith among the far, far right loonies.

I've long felt that this site: MIA Facts Site has been the most balanced I've read on this subject.

Full Disclosure I have shared some of my own research and personal knowledge of these matters from my own experience, with the site’s author, Joe Schlatter.

Joe is an interesting character. He is a strong liberal democrat and card-carrying, 32nd degree, fanatical Bush hater. As such, he is diametrically opposed politically to the POW-MIA cultists whom he calls "True Believers." These cats are even to the right of Bush and that’s hard … they’re so far right they’re damn near off the spectrum.

But, paradoxically, Joe, in his arguments against George Bush, employs some of the same outrageous and unsound logic common to those infected with Bush Derangement Syndrome, and for which he criticizes the POW-MIA “True Believers.” Pot, meet Kettle.

Notwithstanding that, I see on his site that Joe has issued a shock and awe attack on the True Believers who have been re-enegized by McCain's candidacy, and have dusted off all of their old scurrilous lies about McCain. Apparently, Schlatter has not seen the article you referenced in your posting, but I recognize some of the same old tired arguments in that piece that Schlatter has debunked on his site.

His site is lengthy, wordy, and sometimes difficult to follow but, in my view, his work has been quite thorough and sound; not up to the standard of a top-rate historical monograph, mind you, but good.

I’d urge anyone interested to check out Schlatter’s site.

One SpookOne Spookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00592774438681904368noreply@blogger.com
