Bony Fingers
by Hoyt Axton
Rain coming down and the roof won’t hold her
Well I lost my job and I feel a little older
Car won’t run and our love’s grown colder
Maybe things will get a little better in the morning
Maybe things will get a little better
The clothes need washing and the fire won’t start
Kids all crying and you’re breaking my heart
Whole damned place is falling apart but
Maybe things will get a little better in the morning
Maybe things will get a little better
Chorus:I’ve been broke just as long as I remember
Work your fingers to the bone and what do you get?
Bony fingers, bony fingers
Well I get a little money; I gotta run and spend her
When I try to save it pretty woman come and take it
Maybe things will get a little better in the morning
Maybe things will get a little better
Work your fingers to the bone and what do you get?
Bony fingers, bony fingers
Grass won’t grow and the sun’s too hot
The whole darned world is going to pot
You might as well like it cause I’m all that you’ve got
Maybe things will get a little better in the morning
Maybe things will get a little better
Work your fingers to the bone and what do you get?
Bony fingers, bony fingers
Rain coming down and the roof won’t hold her
Well I lost my job and I feel a little older
Car won’t run and our love’s grown colder
Maybe things will get a little better in the morning
Maybe things will get a little better
Work your fingers to the bone and what do you get?
Bony fingers, bony fingers
Work your fingers to the bone and what do you get?
Bony fingers, bony fingers

WOW! I have been looking for this song for years!!! I got it in my mind years ago that Brownsville Station recorded it. Oh well Thanks so much for sharing. I Googled and this was the first hit I chose.
I like your Disclaimer/Claimer{?}: "This is MY blog". I don't usually do the blog thing but this is Grand. Thanx so much for sharing...

Now if I could just find...*Teddy Bear can I share a secret with you?"
Wow!! Looking for this song for a long time.
Can still hear Hoyt Axton singing it (he was the gentleman in "Gremlins")
Just won a $l.00 bet with my wife that this song existed. :)

That's lovely, thanks.
The version I grew up with was a live version on the "Bread & Roses" benefit album: it's a lot looser, more of a drinking song; this version is more of a country song.
Was this ever used as a central theme on a TV show?
