I'm in good company, then. I read your comment about necessary talents coming naturally as a message, and I tend to agree. The whole fate/destiny/purpose trope in Rowling is incredibly annoying, because you know it means that she knows what's coming, and to some extent it doesn't matter what the characters do (and I have that problem with almost any prophetic writing, also many time travel stories).
Plus, courage, as nice as it is, only gets you so far without competence.
