What Happens After You Die?

Well, the Little Anachronism is growing up. The question du jour (there's a sudden interest in other languages, as well, though it's mostly limited to listening to language tapes as entertainment instead of actually following along) is about post-mortem existence. My spouse actually got the question, and after coming up with the first draft answer, checked in with me. The three basic tropes, as near as we can determine are

• non-existence
• reincarnation
• Heaven and Hell

There are some significant variations on the last one, but nothing that we can think of which really qualifies as a fourth option.
