Blogging will be light for a while. I do want to point out that I've been involved in some interesting conversations recently, including a discussion with Mr. Jones about the
War on Christmas (he's agin' it) and with Anne Zook about
fandom. And, the host of the Harry Potter Carnival which started that discussion (it's
weekly!) is
trolling for compliments and reassurance, to balance out
my assessment, so go on over and tell her to keep up the good work! Or something.

Oh, please; in your own words, "it's public," isn't it? If you don't like it, then perhaps don't link it. It only helps me bring down Western Civilization faster, you know. I'm not about to start any sort of "blog war," with you, because I don't think it's worth my time. You might at least recognize that you brought it on.
Ms. Huff,
It's not a blogwar; it's a disagreement. A civil discourse which has only just begun to touch on fundamental issues. If it were a blogwar, I'd go through the DiagonAlley thread point by point.... but there's hardly anything there beyond self-righteous name-calling.
You seem to be under the impression that I care about being called a semi-literate dunderhead based on snap judgements (mostly by people who, according to my statmeter, have not read this blog, and those who did clearly don't get it). I don't (not much). But if you're going to play the civility and blogwar cards, you're going to need to apply a bit more consistency to the matter. Why not join the discussion here (a subject you've touched on before) instead of fixating on my "original sin"
And you've confused correlation and causation. Harry Potter fandom is not causing the fall of Western Civilization; it is evidence of the decline of Western Civilization.
p.s. Never mind about civility. I was poking around the DiagonAlley site and ran across the rules for commenters; in spite of the fact that ad hominem and name calling are clearly prohibited, there's a "moderator" and "site admin" commenting in the thread, and so clearly the rules only apply to insiders, not to comments about people outside the circle of the elect.
It doesn't change the fact that there could be an interesting discussion to be had, but it lowers my expectations considerably.
p.p.s. Well, never mind everything I said about civility and the possibility of discourse. I've been reading the comments in your thread, and a more self-satisifed, narrow-minded, trigger-happy bunch I haven't encountered outside of hardcore political circles. I don't think a single one of them looked beyond the single post to which you linked, and yet they are making claims about my character and background that are... amusing, really.
You are hypocrites. And just because you're harmless doesn't mean you're not pathetic. I am sorry I ever took you the slightest bit seriously.
