I'm a Socialist? Maybe a Social Democrat.

[via Mr. Jones and Orac]
You are a
Social Liberal(68% permissive)
and an...
Economic Liberal(16% permissive)
You are best described as a:
Socialist

I don't know about this result. The chart is interesting: Libertarians and Democrats are closer than Libertarians and Republicans, which is quite counter to the overlap that I seem to see. The border between Republicans, Totalitarians and Fascists is also somewhat suspect; there should be a connection between Socialist and Totalitarian, at least.

For the record, I said "yes" to "24. It should be legal for two consenting adults to challenge each other to a duel and fight a Death Match." That's another post.

Because I didn't like the result, I went back through the questions. Even on second run, I couldn't justify changing my answers much:
You are a
Social Liberal(65% permissive)
and an...
Economic Liberal(20% permissive)
You are best described as a:
Strong Democrat

On the "famous people" chart (Mr. Jones pointed to that), I seem to be right between Mikhail Gorbachev and Hilary Clinton (who are flanked by Darth Vader and Mahatma Gandhi, respectively!) and somewhere south of Robert Redford.

[post edited to remove basic Social and Economic axes, which are basically the same chart as the ideology chart, but without the ideology overlays.]

Hi Ahistoricality,

I was just browsing Google and noticed you wrote a very nice entry about my refernece to Pogo a while back. Thanks!!!

Hey, I love these stupid tests like this. Thanks for the link. My scores were similtar to yours:

Social Liberal (75% permissive) and Economic Liberal (13% permissive). This permissive stuff sounds kind of kinky. Just for the record, I am democratic precinct chair, so I think this socialist thing is a load hooey. Maybe the test was created by republicans in hopes of getting democrats to bail the party to vote socialist. You have to wonder why they ask who you voted for BEFORE tallying the results.

But still fun. :-)

If you like quizzes, I've got the mother lode for you!

Actually, I think the chart makes a few errors, including failing to include a section for "communism" which borders socialism and totalitarianism. And the section for fascism is definitely too small (though the fact that it borders Republicanism is kind of interesting, if you're guessing at the mindset of the designer).

I don't have a problem with socialists in the Democratic Party (I think we ought to be dragging it more that way, myself: just admit that we're lefties and live with ith proudly!), and the odds that people will shift parties because of this seems pretty low.

But it's fun.
