Our house has a slate roof. There was a stack of slates in the barn two feet high when we were looking at the house, and we didn't specify to the owner to leave them there when we took possession. Her son took them. Grrr....
I guess he had a reputation for being a bit of a scrounger and devotee of flea markets. I think he was trying to make a few clams off the sale before mom got her slice.

That's low. Also lots of work to move if you don't have a particular use for them.
